Tips to Buy Tickets for Public Transit

Buying lottery tickets is something that a lot of people do and once they find that there ticket has not won them anything they just crumple it and throw it away. Though the ticket was not a winning number it was still worth money. This is because there are a lot of people who would buy such tickets off you though there was no value for them.

Why You Should Not Buy the Premium Tickets

Getting a bus pass is a great way to save money. Whether you are on a vacation in a new country or are a regular traveler in your home town a bus pass means paying a limited fare for any number of trips. Regular commuters benefit with this cost effective pass, but if you are travelling just for the day it will still save you a lot of money.

Tax Help FAQ: How Does the National Taxpayer Advocate Service Help Taxpayers Work?

If you have ever missed out on a fun event or started out on an outing only to be rained out, you know the value of a centralized place for finding local information. Newspapers and telephone book yellow pages cannot keep up with the rapidly changing status of information and events. That's why websites that carry accurate and up-to-date local information are so valuable-especially if they are free to use.

The Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear Invades Washington DC

Comedy Central funnymen Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have orchestrated a huge rally in Washington DC today in order inspire people to get interested in this year’s mid-term elections (which take place on Tuesday November 2) and, of course, to poke a little fun at the whole entire political process. Jon and Stephen (and a [...]

Our dear Jake Gyllenhaal, who was recently spied in the close company of Country/Pop star Taylor Swift, was spotted enjoying a lunch date with Cougar Town actress Busy Philipps here in SoCal yesterday afternoon. Despite the seeming coziness of the pair, I’m pretty sure there was nothing untoward going on between the two … Jake and Busy are godparents to Matilda Rose Ledger (daughter of Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger) and were prolly just having a friendly pow-wow together:

Even tho there’s no rule that godparents can’t be romantic, I’m pretty sure these two are merely good friends. That being said, I think I would much prefer it if Jake were romantically linked to Busy rather than with Taylor. As much as I would love Jakey poo to be single and available (you know, just in case), I think I could live with him settling down with a nice girl like Busy. I think Jake gettin’ bizzy with Busy makes a Hell of a lot more sense than his fraternizing with Taylor.

Like in any other places all over the world, Heavy Metal will always be regarded as the music for the mischievous sprite and Malaysia included. The functionality of the media and press in this country offered no help what so ever in aiding the curiosity of the conservative, uninformed and anxious society with the very much-needed explanation despite their roles as propagators of truth and conscience. As far as I am concerned, Heavy Metal in Malaysia will always remain as an underrated and second-class form of musical entertainment in the eyes of any normal Joes and Janes, despite...

Christmas Coloring Pages For Free

As the art historians and art critics formulated their opinions and ideas into prints, more esoteric terms spun off the subject under "non-objective art," "non-representational art," and "non-figurative art." Now, for the sake of simplicity, we could categorize it into only representational art and abstract art. Abstract art is a type of art which can conjure up different ideas and thoughts to individuals, making it open to interpretation.

You Can Do It! (Okay, Maybe Not)

The world's worst band is playing at a neighborhood fest/farmer's market one block from my apartment, but they're so loud that it sounds like they're playing right outside my window. I just ventured out so I could see what they look like and take a picture to show you, but as it turns out they're a group of down-on-their-luck teenagers playing plastic buckets and ginormous metal bazookas (which looks like trombones but aren't), so I felt bad and didn't do so.

But you know, this leads me to something. You want to encourage these kids and be like, "Keep playing your music! You can do it!" But at what point do you tell them they're awful? I mean, the neighborhood is suffering because of the noise. I have my TV turned up all the way to drown them out.

It reminds me of when I played the flute in the fourth grade school band. I thought we were amazing but then we had a concert. Afterward, when I asked my step-dad how we were, he laughed and said, "You sounded like the Charlie Brown school band." I was eight or nine years old at the time, but I was old enough to be told I sucked. I remember not caring. These kids are teenagers... I think it's time someone encouraged them to find another career path because this jam-band thing isn't working out.

(Btw, I couldn't find a clip of the Peanuts gang school band to show you, but you know what I'm talking about, right? They were horrible.)

And while she's at it, she should get a new stylist too!

Great news Battlestar Galactica fans, Deadline is reporting that SyFy has ordered a 2-hour pilot for a proposed new prequel spin-off series of the franchise. As you may know, Caprica (the current BG prequel spin-off) is still in its first season (with the hope of a season 2 pickup soon) so the folks at SyFy think it’s a great time to introduce another spin-off series that is set in the 10th year of the Cylon War and is focused around the young Academy graduate William Adama (who is just a kid in Caprica and is the seasoned admiral in Battlestar Galactica). Here are the deets about this new spin-off series:

SyFy is going back to the Battlestar Galactica well. After launching prequel Caprica, which is now airing the second part of its first season while awaiting word on a second-season pickup, the cable network has greenlighted a two-hour pilot for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome or BGBC how it will probably be known in the Battlestar fan universe. The pilot, about the young years of Ensign William Adama, hails from Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick and Universal Cable Prods. and will involve CGI and virtual technology.

I am a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica and was very sad when the series had to end … but, to be honest, I never really got into Caprica. I watched the series pilot movie but it just didn’t win me over and I decided not to watch the series. That being said, I’m very interested in this new proposed spin-off that focuses on the young William Adama. JJ Abrams found great success with his prequel version of Star Trek which focuses on the young crew of the USS Enterprise … I really think that SyFy can enjoy that kind of success with Battlestar. After the jump, read the official announcement from SyFy about Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet. “The ‘Galactica’ universe as re-imagined by Ron Moore and David Eick is rich with possibilities and backstory,” said SyFy’s Mark Stern. “We jumped at the chance to revisit the William Adama character and explore this exciting chapter in the BSG narrative which falls between the events of the original series and the prequel, ‘Caprica,’ currently airing on Syfy.” “While maintaining the themes of politics, social propaganda, and the timeless question: what does it mean to be human? – ‘Blood & Chrome’ will also return us to the authentic, relentless depiction of combat and the agony and ecstasy of human-Cylon war, which was the hallmark of ‘Battlestar Galactica’s’ early seasons,” said Eick. Michael Taylor wrote the teleplay from a story by Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle.

In the end, it all comes down to the writing … Battlestar was such a great show because the writing was so fantastic. I have been hearing great things about Caprica (particularly the fantastic writing) so I may have to give that show a second chance. I am really excited about Blood & Chrome tho … I’m in desperate need of a new sci-fi series to fall in love with. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome sounds perfect. Any Battlestar fans out there … does this sound like a great idea for a new series to you?

Remove iTunes Duplicates Delete Duplicate Songs With an iTunes Organizer

The quality of home recorded loops is usually of a very poor level. The reason behind it is that most of the composers lack the essential equipment which is required to make studio quality recordings. If the song-writers neglect the importance of quality loops and incorporates such loops in the music they create, this is automatically reflected in their music and is not at all appreciated by their audience.

I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina where I attended a Southern Baptist Church all my life. Every September on the 4th Saturday and 4th Sunday, my church participated in what we called the Associational Singing Convention. It was great fun and I looked forward to it every year. However, it was only after I was grown and had left the small mountain community where I grew up that I learned the history of this tradition - how old it really was and the fact that it is for the most part an abandoned and forgotten custom.

Everybody's excited, venue owners, promoters, clubgoers, music lovers, fans, and probably most excited of all are the DJs themselves. But how accurate is the poll anyway? There is no transparency, DJmag doesn't tells us anything besides that they "attract over 350,000 votes a year", but other than that there is no insight into the data.

The US Version Of Skins Releases A Second Video Trailer

Yesterday we got our first look at the first teaser trailer for the new MTV remake of the fantastic UK teen drama Skins … and today we get to check out another trailer for the series. It turns out that the PR team for the US version of Skins has decided to use “negative” comments [...]

Very sad news for tech geeks to pass along today … Sony has announced that it will no longer produce their iconic Walkman portable cassette stereos after the current batch of gadgets sells out. Despite the fact that the Apple iPod has pretty much become THE standard in portable music players in recent years, the Sony Walkman will forever remain, IMHO, the most important portable music player of all time. I gotta say … I’m really sad to see the Walkman die :(

After more than 30 years of producing its Walkman portable cassette players, Sony said it’s ending sales of the Walkman. The final batch was produced in Japan in April, and no more will be produced as soon as the current run is sold out. Just over 200 million cassette Walkman players have been sold over the years since being first introduced in 1979. Sony will continue to make and sell CD- and MiniDisc-based Walkmans, as well as its latest flash-based devices. Cloned but Sony-branded Walkmans will continue to be made by Chinese makers in Asia and the Middle East. The Walkman is widely credited with pioneering the concept of personal, portable audio beyond the radio. It helped spur on the cassette as a popular format and also maintained interest in albums. Interest only began to fade in the 1990s when the Discman took over, and saw a more definite end when the iPod was in sight.

It makes sense that Sony would discontinue production of their portable cassette players, especially since cassettes will very soon be extinct themselves … but … this is still really sad news. I remember when I got my first Sony Walkman back in the mid-80s … man, I loved that thing so much. My favorite memories include me riding around the block on my bike with my Sony Walkman strapped to my waist as I listened to Madonna, Prince, Stacey Q, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam … man, those were the good ol’ days. The Sony Walkman was just as popular at the time as the Apple iPod is today … but, alas, it’s natural that the old has to make way for the new. At least Sony is keeping the “Walkman” name alive with it’s CD and MP3 players but, in all honesty, they aren’t true Walkman devices. I’ll miss the real Sony Walkman … especially since it feels like a part of my childhood has just died :(

Kenye Omari West Everything You Need to Know

Choosing colored guitar strings over the regular types are based on looks and not necessarily on performance. The sound quality of a guitar string is usually not affected even when they are coated with a different color. But remember guitar strings differ from every manufacturer which means some of the colored guitar strings may not sound good over other strings with the same design.

Basic Guitar Set Up Intonate Your Electric Guitar

One of the first mods that anybody makes to their guitar is to change the pickups. This can be for various reasons, it maybe that you bought a cheap lower model guitar, your after a specific tone or you've heard some famous rock god plays a particular brand and you want them. In my opinion most cheap guitars come with cheap Chinese nonsense pickups, that's because they are cheap nonsense crap guitars and don't deserve anything else.

Guitar Set Up Should You Really Replace Those Pickups?

Tuning any musical instrument is the science of adjusting the pitch of many desired tones until you meet the required tone for the desired arrangement. In other words so the strings sound right and play right! Sound is basically made up of vibrations, instruments produce the vibrations and what we hear is the sound.

Guitar Set Up Basics Choosing Guitar Strings

Sometimes when you tune your guitar and your open strings are in tune, you may play a fretted note and it will sound out of tune. For example you may play a solo and find some of the notes are either flat or sharp the further you move up the fret board. This is probably because your intonation is not correctly set-up, I've written this guide to help you set-up your intonation yourself.

History of the Cigar Box Guitar

I've known about these guitars for sometime know, I have never played one they look and sound sweet. So I've been thinking a lot recently how I want to start building guitars, I can't ever imagine I'll never make any decent money out of it but it's something I want to do, I get bored easily and this will be another hobby that will keep me sane;) Its far removed from the skills of a professional lutheir, but it looks fun and interesting. I think by making one of these I'll gain a little understanding in fretting, guitar electronics...

The Great Musician Mozart

Have you taken notice that Weddings are becoming much different now a days? I've been a DJ for over 10 years and I've noticed that the way I use to play music at weddings is changing more so, for the reason that it seems people have become less patient. I've took notice that the traditional 4 to 5 hour ceremony and reception is taking a new form:, the Wedding Ceremonies are becoming shorter and more personal instead of the traditional vows for the Bride and the Groom, the huge lavish Bridal Party, the Official (Pastor) reading the vows...

Dynamic New Rock Music by Michael Edie: This Time

The classic period film, "The Big Chill," famously had a line about how there has been no music since the seventies. I believe that the golden age of rock and roll really took place from the mid- sixties to the early seventies. How many of today's performers do any of us really believe will still have any type of following in twenty years?

Not everybody can be musical, some people can dance or sing along with it, but comparatively just a few can play a musical instrument. It takes patience, practice and lots of precious time to create a piece of music and make it sound as it should. This is one of the hurdles that beginners have to face when first learning to play.

Is Chris Browns Girlfriend Knocked Up?

Chris Brown’s girlfriend – Karrauche Tran – is rumored to be pregnant, but neither of them are speaking up about it. Is there photo evidence? Let’s just say that Chris Brown is not one of my favorite singers, or celebrities for that matter. I’m still not over the whole Rihanna thing. I don’t care how much trash you pick up from the side of the road, or how much media beating you take, you can’t undo being convicted of smashing in your girlfriend’s face. But even if we put that in the past, now we’re dealing with the prospect that he has impregnated this chick Karrauche. The rumor all started on MediaTakeout’s website. The outlet claims in big bold letters that they “got the pics to prove it.” So I took a look at these photos. They don’t prove a whole lot. Maybe she had a hearty lunch or something. Sure, she has a tiny little bubble of a baby-belly. But as a mother I can tell you there is nothing conclusive going on. For once, I am hoping that a celebrity pregnancy rumor is not true. Yes, I’m a Chris Brown hater. My problem with him doesn’t stop at [...]

Getting Your Records Valued

This was The Clash's last album. And no, I haven't forgotten that album launched by Strummer and Simonon backed by a cluster of scabs in 1985 named "Cut the Crap". "We Are The Clash", my ass. That was an amazing mistake, and so the band recognized as much - no tracks from it have been included on the otherwise profession-across "The Clash On Broadway" (1991).

With the recent news of a remake in the works, "Lethal Weapon" fans may be excited about the return of cop buddies Riggs and Murtaugh to the big screen, but there's one person who may be hesitant to see it redone: its original star Danny Glover.

Glover received word about the franchise reboot when MTV News caught up with him at the Sundance Film Festival. The actor responded to the news by quoting his "Lethal Weapon" character Murtaugh, by telling us, "I'm too old for this!"

But it wasn't just time passed that Glover worried about the reboots. The star cited his co-star Mel Gibson ("I love Mel. Mel's my friend" he said of the troubled actor) and their director for all four "Lethal Weapon" films, Richard Donner, for the success and "magic" in the original movies.

The actor, who was at Sundance to promote his latest film "The Black Power Mixtape", said of his former director, "There's no way this could have been done, the four "Lethal Weapon" movies, without Richard Donner." Glover went on to say that Donner allowed the actors, "the space for us to...create and gather the kind of relationships... we did in that movie."

Glover, who recalled the making of the films as "a wonderful journey," just seemed to want the original series to be left alone. "I'd like to think that the four we did were still magical and people will still reference the four "Lethal Weapon's", he said, "I like what we've done before in the past."

Arrested Development Movie Out This Year

We've made a huge mistake on thinking this movie would never come out!

It looks like we've gotten some of the most solid info on the will-it-or-won't-it-happen Arrested Development movie!

We'll let the words of Steve Holt! Mitchell Hurwitz, the show's creator, speak for themselves:

"We’ve started that process and it is our sincere hope to shoot it this year and get it out this year."

Yessssss! This year?? As in 2011?? Come on!

Fans have been waiting so long for this!

He goes on:

“That’s what we’re hoping but a lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen… I don’t like to toy with the affections of our fans. They’ve been so supportive and we’re so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the question until I can say, ‘Yep, we’ve shot it, it opens next week’. Otherwise it feels like we’re toying with people and we do not mean to do that. It has just taken a while to get it going.”

There's gotta be a better way to say that without all the "hoping" going on. That's the only part of it that makes us nervous, but we have faith in them!!

Not only that, but it looks like the whole cast is back. You put them all together and U got Urself a hilarious movie stew, bb!

Are U so excited?? Will it be out this year??

Let me tell you about my Friday … my very looooooooong and drawn out Friday … ugh. So, earlier this week I discovered that my car battery had died so I decided to take it into the VW dealership to have it replaced. Now, I know I could’ve gotten the battery replaced for much cheaper somewhere else but I love my car and really like having the dealership take care of these sorts of things. I’ve never had a problem with my car before so … what the Hell. Then my long day began …

Basically, I spent the entirety of my life stuck in the waiting room trying to entertain myself with anything available. To be honest, the wait wasn’t that long … but it did take longer than they said it would. The drive home was another story. It took me almost 2 hours to get from the dealership to my home … roughly 8 miles. I damn near lost my mind but … my car had to be fixed, it’s all over now.

Tonight, David and I are preparing our home for a massive party. David decided to invite everyone we know in LA to come over for a pre/anti Super Bowl party. He got all fancy and ordered a bartender and everything … it should be fun. I spent a couple hours compiling the music playlist. I amassed 16 hours of music … hopefully that will be enough. I hope all your Super Bowl weekends will be fun! Yay!!
